USM EVENTS today announced a new major event: the Geelong Multi Sport Festival. Being held along the Geelong Waterfront from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 February 2011, the festival will feature a wide range of sports and activities that appeal to a broader market and ensure participation across all levels of ability and ages.  The centrepiece of the three-day festival will be the Olympic distance triathlon (1.5km swim, 40km cycle, 10km run).  Another feature will be watching some of the world’s best triathletes contest the Australian Sprint Distance Championships (750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run).  Read more

A few months ago, whilst on holiday in Australia and at the end of a long afternoon of drinks with friends, one of them suggested participating in the Noosa Tri. My husband, who has completed numerous triathlons, including two Iron Man courses, was right onto it – and, thanks to the wine, so was I. As soon as it was decided three of us would do it, I secretly hoped Noosa wouldn't happen. After all, it was well over six months away and my husband and I were living in Tokyo so I couldn't see how it was possible.
